WEEK 8:

There's still a lot to fix. The sound is nearly finished; I need to finalize my timing and send it to the sound designer for the final sound adjustments.


I need to re-render missing frames and begin cleaning up for the final.

Creating a fake glass and Smuge:


Final Result

Breakdown:

Used noise and animate the frequency to create the smudge. I rotated the window and added noise to make it look like there was glass. Using noise to mask the roto and animate the frequency to create the smudge.

WEEK 3:

The rendering for the shuttle launch is currently taking 1 hour per frame. I'm working on optimizing and troubleshooting before proceeding with rendering the entire sequence.


-The left shot is before launch, and the sky serves as a temporary placeholder while I adjusted the greenscreen and ensured the composition was correct.

-I changed the angle of the right shot to do less compositing

Earlier, I rendered the interior of the shuttle scene in Maya, but I have now transferred all of it to Houdini.




WEEK 2:

Day 2:

I don't have any new updates, I've been refining the pyro simulation and caching it out.


I received the rigged character from Peter's friend, gave it to the animator, and waited for them to animate.


I add an additional layer to the smoke, under the launchpad.

Day 1:

-I re-simulated the pyro to increase the smoke.

-I changed the simulation for the scene below, and I plan to re-render and re-light this shot with the new simulation. Peter's friend is helping with the animation, but he hasn't heard back yet.


Sound Designer:

-I met with three sound designers who are eager to assist with the project. They were prepared to begin producing sound, so I provided them with the first scene.


Plan for Spring Quarter:
